Outstanding Dancer Scholarships

Seniors Ages 16-18

Sponsored by Capezio

 

NYC Dance Alliance seeks to provide Senior dancers (ages 16-18) with a professional New York audition experience through a scholarship audition class. Audition class will consist of a short ballet and jazz combination.

 

 

 

Only auditionees and registered Teachers will be given access to the audition ballroom. Absolutely no observers.

 
An elimination round may occur during the audition class.

 
At the completion of the audition class, doors will be open to all students and observers for the “Convention Finale” which will include final scholarship performances, judging, and awards. Dancers (16-18) will be evaluated within their own age group in the final audition and awarded scholarships separately from Teens.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Dancers must be registered for the entire workshop as a Senior - ages 16-18 only (age as of Regional Convention date).
• Dancers will be assigned numbers to wear in all classes during the convention weekend. Dancers may be asked to perform combinations from workshop classes during final audition judging.
• Dancers planning to attend the Scholarship Audition class must notify the registration desk by Saturday 8:15 AM. Pre-registration will be accepted by mail with initial workshop registration.

Two dancers in each city will be recognized with a NYCDA 2011-2012 Regional Sr. Outstanding Dancer Award. This presentation includes a special CAPEZIO Gift Card, scholarships to STEPS ON BROADWAY, PERIDANCE CENTER and BROADWAY DANCE CENTER and a NYCDA 2012 National Season Finale! Workshop Scholarship.

 
Two or more additional dancers in each city will receive a NYCDA 2012 National Season Finale! Workshop Scholarship as Regional runners-up.

 

All Senior winners and runners-up from the Regional NYCDA Scholarship Audition Class will be eligible to participate in the National NYCDA Sr. Outstanding Dancer Audition in July of 2012. Cash awards and Scholarships will be presented.

 
Unless registered as independents, all regional scholarship winners will represent their registered studio for that city and at Nationals. Scholarship awards are not transferable to another studio, unless both teachers consent. Scholarship winners may attend Nationals as independents. 

Teens Ages 13-15

NYC Dance Alliance seeks to informally introduce Junior dancers (ages 11-12) to the NYC audition experience. Sunday is the designated Mini and Junior Scholarship Day.

 

 

 

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Dancers must be registered for the entire workshop as a Junior (ages 11-12) as of Regional Convention date.
• Dancers will be assigned numbers to wear all day Sunday only. Auditioning dancers will be asked to perform combinations from workshop classes and will be evaluated within their own age group. Final scholarships will be presented at the Convention Finale.
• All interested dancers must be registered for the scholarship by 8:00 AM on Sunday. Pre-registration will be accepted by mail with initial workshop registration.

Two Junior dancers in each city will be recognized with the NYCDA 2011-2012 Regional Outstanding Dancer Award. This presentation includes a NYCDA 2012 National Season Finale Workshop Scholarship and a Special Sponsorship Award.
