Winter Contemporary Intensive

FULL SCHEDULE + more details, Click HERE →

During these challenging and uncertain times, and in an effort to allow for proper planning and guaranteed safety, the current strategy is to host the annual NYCDA Winter Intensives virtually - on Zoom. If circumstances change, these programs may move to a ‘hybrid’ approach – with some dancers physically in a professional dance studio in NYC. Please make your plans to join us. Either way, we promise the quality and care you have come to expect from NYCDA. Scroll down – all information is below.

(Dancers age 16-21)

Under the leadership of the former Artistic Director of Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet, Alexandra Damiani, the mission of the NYCDA Winter Contemporary Dance Intensive is to offer an insight into international contemporary dance. The program allows aspiring professional dancers the opportunity to experience the work of established and emerging international contemporary choreographers, within a classroom and rehearsal setting. This intensive lays the groundwork for the expectations of any prestigious college dance program or a first exposure to the concert dance company experience. This winter session will focus on the repertory work of 3 selected choreographers.

Past choreographic repertory has included the works of:

Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Hofesh Schechter…. and more.
